Fusebox / Consumer unit upgrades:
We regurlarly upgrade consumer units and Fuseboxes across Kent and Sussex - Some older than others!!
Dual RCD consumer units
A standard swap for a dual RCD consumer unit with added surge protection usually can be carried out in a morning and costs around £500. Consumer units are sold populated with the relevant circuit breakers for an average home. If a home is over 3 bedrooms or has outbuildings it may be necessary to modify the set up so its best to contact us to clarify the cost in that event. Dual RCD consumer units as can be seen in the photo to the right, consist of 2 protective RCDs each protecting half the property, a fault on any circuit will trigger that RCD before harm can come to anyone.
RCBO consumer units
Most of our customers opt for RCBO consumer units, which essentially are consumer units where there are RCD technology built into the circuit breakers. This upgrade also can be done in a morning, but the cost is usually starting at £650, purely because of the equipment. However just as with the dual RCD version, anything outside a standard 3 bedroom its best to contact us. What is different about the RCBO consumer units is primarily down to the individual protection. As with the Dual RCD consumer unit, its completely compliant, but, in the event of a fault only the one circuit where the fault has occurred trips, not the RCD which is protecting half of the property.
